There’s a new addition to the bustling lanes of Delhi’s MG road, which houses many high-end home furnishing labels, and is the go-to terminus of NCR dwellers for all things decor. Artize Atelier, a bathware brand by the Jaquar Group, has reached the capital city after the success of its Mumbai store.

With futuristic designs envisioned by Michael Foley, Danelon Meroni and Lisa Bosi, the atelier is a testament to the revolutionary prowess of the Art Deco movement, as seen via its innovative bathtubs, saunas, steam cabins, whirlpools, and touch-based electronic water-mixer system, among others. Travel influence also takes centre stage in pieces inspired by the Japanese techniques of origami and Turkish floral pottery, reflecting the tastes of those who value modern-day minimalism over all else.

The launch of the Delhi Artize Atelier took place on a sweltering Saturday in July, summoning some of the leading names in the architecture and design industry, as Architectural Digest hosted a party in its celebration. AD ’s longtime friend and collaborator, Eeshan Kashyap came on board to curate a unique decor, drinks and dining experience. In classic and provocative AD x Eeshan style, the invite read, “This is not a bathroom party!”, and it became more than just a hashtag. The experiential walkthrough was accompanied by exquisite amuse-bouche in the form of Mushroom and Thyme Pate served on a bamboo toothbrush, dip servings via fancy soap dispensers, and cocktails with miniature squeaky bath ducks. Who knew that a bathware event could be so amusing and warrant endless Instagrammable posts?

Many decorated architects and designers came out in support of this bathware-themed contemporary art gallery-style event. In attendance was veteran architect Sunita Kohli, and also Kohelika Kohli of K2India, interior designer Iram Sultan, Amrita Guha of Untitled Design, Puru Das of Demuro Das, London-based designer Shalini Misra, Ashwin Alva and Nirmeran Singh of Alva Associates, Tushant Bansal, Sandeep Khanna of TW Living, Monica Chawla of Essentia Environments, artist-designer Gunjan Gupta, to name a few. In a welcoming statement, Mr Rajesh Mehra, Director and Promoter – Jaquar Group, said, ‘’We are happy to see such a fantastic gathering of eminent architects. This gives us the confidence to explore the possibility of such [experiential] facilities where people see what the brand is offering”.

Art, as a concept and an expression, sits at the forefront of Artize – it chases perfection in the form of design, aesthetics and philosophy that you can bring home. As Mohit Hajela, the Group Head – Business Development of Jaquar and Company Pvt. Ltd. succinctly put, “Art gives the mind the freedom to bend, and Artize is all about bringing that artistic timelessness to [bathware] design.”
