Superdrug's £6.50 mascara is 'perfect dupe' of £20 Huda Beauty version - Liverpool Echo

There are many reasons I prefer this cheaper version- including it's no clumping and volumising tendancies

An everyday make up look needs a good, lightweight mascara, but they seem to be hard to find, especially if you're on a budget.

In comes the Collection Next Level Lash Surge Mascara, a £6.49 wondrous mascara. I do love volume, even for day to day wear and the Collection Next Level Surge certainly delivered when I tested it out. I have been using the Huda Beauty Legit Lashed Double Ended Mascara for the last few months and loved it's attention to volume, but it does tend to clump a little.

With the Collection Next Level Lash Surge Mascara, I feel like it fans out my lashes with ease. There was not a single clump in sight, and it's so easy to build.

Even wearing it for a night out, I liked the fact it felt so lightweight and I didn't feel like I had to layer it up an awful lot to get a thicker coverage transitioning from day to night. In fact, whenever I have tried products from Collection, I have always considered them to be incredible quality for their price.

With this mascara, Collection states that you can, "Amp up the volume by adding extra coats to achieve your desired level of drama. Say goodbye to flaking smudging and clumping."

When taking to my bottom lashes it really opened the eyes without me having to apply too much - I just did a quick brush over the ends and it made a huge difference. I think Collection Cosmetics have really nailed it with this product.

The wand is perfect for a fuller look without any need to keep brushing through. I have always been able to use Collections foundations, concealers, mascaras and eyeshadows and they have always been easily comparable to higher end brands. Superdrug shoppers can pick up the Collection range for buy one get the second half price.

Here are other top mascara's we have group reviewed only recently if these seem better suited for your preferred look...

Beauty buffs were swooning over the £9.99 mascara that’s constantly in and out of stock, racking up more than 500 five star reviews on the Boots website. I had to see for myself if the viral makeup product could transform my fair lashes into fluttery extension looking lashes.

The promises to deliver ‘full volume and a limitless length look’ which is unique in itself as mascara’s tend to offer one or the other. The packaging is nice in a metallic lilac colour, and the ‘flex tower’ brush is the plastic comb style, which is my preferred applicator compared to the bristly type.

It is, however, quite a wet formula, so not one that you want to sneeze straight after using. That said, you can work the formula to your advantage if you work quickly. Instead of letting it dry between coats, add two to three layers of mascara to achieve both jaw-dropping length and volume.

My lashes didn’t stick together or clump up to leave me looking like a 90s throwback, nor did I get it all over my face in the application process either, which ticks some pretty big boxes for me. I was convinced that my lashes looked longer than they really are, as though I’d just had a set of lash extensions, but this is because the mascara formula is infused with bamboo extract and fibers that offer length without the added weight, which provides the curl.

Even adding it to my lower lashes, it didn’t transfer onto my undereye to require a concealer cover up, and instead left me with brighter, larger-looking peepers with fluttery lashes, which is just what you want from a mascara. Wearing the mascara throughout the day, it was very comfortable, leaving my lashes still feeling flexible rather than brittle.

The new MAC Stack mascara has near enough five star reviews on the official MAC website. MAC says because of the versatility of the brush you can stack your lashes to a look that suits you, whether that's a natural volume, amplified or next-level.

The mascara looks very sophisticated on first-glance, I particular liked its sleek appearance, and the silver balled handle, as well as the striped pattern on the main bottle. The eyelash wand isn't too long either, and the brush itself is slightly thicker at the bottom than it is at the top, making it a great tool to avoid clumping.

I tested it out on eye first to visually see the difference. Straight away the volume was noticeable and it made me look less tired, and dare I say a tiny bit younger.

I quickly did the other eye to see the full effect and noticed that both sets of eyelashes immediately appeared longer and fuller. The mascara took well to my bottom lashes too and I didn't notice any clumps despite there being a lot of formula on the brush.

MAC took more than two years to develop this mascara, creating a Fibre Melt Technology and a Lash Flex Polymer, which grabs and coats each lash without bunching up.

It certainly did this with mine, my lashes stayed separate as I applied the coats and didn't clump together at any point. The mascara also has a deep, rich black colour so it really feels like you're making a statement. I loved the volume it gave my eyes.
